Lullabies

Blood between the cracks in the floor
From brown arms and brownstones
A restless girl in a sleepless city
Swallows bright lights/
Digests them in pockets of scar tissue
On her abdomen and wrists/
Runs hot water and generic soap
Over a useless blade
Til it is clean
Once more.
